It is
interesting, that the main consumer of glass at present is the construction
industry. More than half of all glass produced falls on the windows (for glass
covering of buildings) and glass for vehicles: cars, railway cars, trams,
trolleybuses. In addition, glass is used as wall and finishing material in the
form of hollow bricks, blocks of foam glass, as well as facing tiles.

Glass Covering of Building Facades |
About a third of
the glass produced is used to manufacture vessels of various types and
purposes. This, above all, glass packaging - bottles and jars. In large
quantities, glass is consumed for the manufacture of tableware. Glass is still
indispensable for the production of chemical glassware. A fairly large amount
of glass is used to make glass-wool, fiber, and fabrics for thermal and
electrical insulation.
The relative
cheapness of glass building materials is due to the wide distribution and,
consequently, the availability and cheapness of raw materials. Molten glass is
a convenient material for molding products in a mechanized way.

Сustom Glass Machining |
Glass is well
amenable to machining. It also reduces the cost of glass products. Glass is
sawed just like wood, just for this, diamond or other solid powder is added to
the edge of the circular saw. Glass can be drilled with ordinary steel drills
using a special wetting fluid. Glass is split into pieces with the help of a
simple tool resembling a cleaver for firewood, but acting not by a blow, but by
gradually increasing effort.
